Global
Percussion Trio was founded in 1994 by Barry Dove with the
focus on exploring world music through percussion. Particular
interests include frame drums such as the middle Eastern
Riq and Duff, the Irish Bodhran, the North African Bendir and
Tar, the Chinese Gavel and the South Indian Kanjira. Other
focuses include African Drumming, Japanese Daiko, Afro-Cuban,
Brazilian, Trinidad & Tobago, North Indian Tabla, American
ragtime and jazz.

The
credentials of the trio's members include studies at the Peabody
Conservatory of Music, Temple
University, University of Michigan, Berklee School of Music, University
of Ghana in Accra and University de la Havana in Cuba. Members
perform with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber
Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Key West Symphony Orchestra,
Washington Contemporary Music Forum, Fort
Wayne Philharmonic, Columbus
Symphony Orchestra, Toledo
Symphony Orchestra, and the National Theatre in
Washington DC. Currently,
members of the trio teach at University of Maryland (UMBC), Loyola University.

Global Percussion has performed at Washington's Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts, the Joseph Meyerhoff Hall with the Baltimore
Symphony Orchestra, Shriver Hall Concert Series with Laurence Lesser,
The Levine School of Music with George Crumb, PASIC 06', Baltimore
Book Festival, Whitbread Festival,
Chevy Chase Concert Series, Notre Dame College, Loyola College, UMBC, Baltimore
Symphony Arts Excel Program, Maryland State Educators Conference 2009 and has been performing
school shows for the last 16 years through out the mid
atlantic region.

Barry
Dove is a past winner of the Peggy and Yale Gordon Concerto Competition
and is a Gordon Artist. Mr. Dove has given lectures on African
drumming, dance and culture at the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth
University, Bucknell University, University of Maryland Baltimore County,
Lee College and
Loyola College. The Washington

Global Percussion Trio has recorded CD's for Robert Macht's "Suite
for Javanese Gamelan and
Synthesizer" 1996
and "Vishnu" 1999.
Global Percussion Trio has recently recorded their debut CD "Global
Percussion Trio" 2005.
Mr. Dove also records for the National Geographic Explorer Channel, Discovery
Channel and The Learning Channel.
